RNLI Charity Work

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) was chosen as corporate charity and over £10 000 was raised, enabling Ordnance Survey to present an inflatable inshore lifeboat, named Ordnance Survey Bosun to the RNLI. A special launch ceremony took place in the North Block courtyard.

The boat was named by Jannette LittleJohn, who also raised around £400 cycling solo from the Wigan field office to the North Region Conference. The boat, D432, was decommissioned some time ago. It now serves as a training boat at RNLI Silloth.

The RNLI was again chosen by staff in 2013-14 as the corporate charity.
